A rare and stunning Buddhist temple built directly on the rugged coastline, unlike most temples in Korea, which are nestled in the mountains. This picturesque location, surrounded by crashing waves and offering spectacular sunrise views, makes it one of the most unique and photographed sites in Busan. Walk along the rocky cliffs, cross the small bridge, and admire the stone statues and sea views.
Often dubbed the 'Machu Picchu of Busan,' this former hillside slum was revitalized by artists and residents into a vibrant, colorful neighborhood. The houses are stacked neatly on the slopes, connected by winding, narrow alleys painted with murals and lined with small art galleries, cafes, and shops. It’s an ideal spot for photography and for experiencing a unique blend of history and creative expression.
As the largest seafood market in South Korea, Jagalchi is a bustling, sensory experience. Wander through the massive first floor where vendors (mostly *ajummas* or older women) sell a huge variety of live and fresh seafood. The best experience is buying your desired catch on the first floor and taking it upstairs to one of the many restaurants to have it prepared instantly (*hoe* or raw fish is a popular choice). It's the culinary heart of the city.
Take a scenic ride along the old Donghae Nambu railway line. You can choose between the slow-moving, colorful **Sky Capsule** (a private box carriage that glides high above the coastline) or the **Beach Train** (a larger, lower train). Both offer incredible views of the cliffs, sea, and lighthouses, connecting Haeundae Beach with the smaller, quieter Songjeong Beach.
Every Saturday night, the sky above Gwangalli Beach and the spectacular Gwangan Diamond Bridge is illuminated by a free drone light show. The show features hundreds of LED drones creating intricate, themed aerial displays. It's a modern, high-tech spectacle that defines the city's nightlife and is best viewed from the beach or one of the many surrounding cafes and bars.
A lesser-known coastal village offering a similar colorful charm to Gamcheon but set right on a dramatic cliffside overlooking the ocean. This former refugee village is now an artistic and bohemian hub featuring cozy cafes, walking paths, and a coastal tunnel that opens to spectacular views. Its location on Yeongdo Island gives it a more isolated, relaxed, and sea-focused atmosphere.
